About the Author
Dorothy E. Zemach teaches composition courses and English as a second language at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She has a Certificate from the Sorbonne, B.A. from Reed College, and M.A.T. in ESL from School of International Training. She previously taught English, French, and Japanese and has been corporate trainer in business communication. Zemach has taught at several schools in Japan, University of Hawaii, and American Language Center in Rabat, Morocco. She is the author of teachers' manuals for business English texts and published grammar tests, as well as consultant to several university presses and USAID, and has authored many papers and presentations.

Finally a TOEFL book we can finish in one term

I feel like I've been waiting for this book forever. Our TOEFL class is 10 weeks long, and we've never had a book we could finish in that time that also really taught all the materials and wasn't just a collection of practice tests.
A strength of this book is the writing and speaking sections, which are more robust than in other books I've used. They actually teach skills students need to create better answers.
Other great things: pairwork exercises so students can work together in class, lists of ways students can practice each of the skills outside of class, language reference charts, practice tests for each subsection (listening, reading, etc.) and full-length practice tests. Great topics, too.
Oh and the CD comes with the student book! Finally!
