A delight!

Oh if all problems could be resolved with a bit of magic! A nice play for a younger person or novice just dipping their toes into the works of the Bard. It's lighthearted tone is nice for seasoned fans as well. It is delightful.

I have tried to read the traditional versions of the play and only got confussed. The print of this is easy to read and it features definitions for words that maybe confussing. This is a complete version of the play with infomation added along. You WILL understand the play when you are done with this book!!!!

I studied this book for a bible college class a few years ago, but I recently purchased another copy for myself (gave the other one away) and for a friend. This book helped me to recognize I am not a victim of my circumstances, but I am a product of my choices. This revelation has helped me to earnestly seek to grow beyond what "life does to me," to a place of what "life does for me." This book helped me learn every experience can help grow me into a more mature Christian -- if I let it! I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to take back control of their life!

It is 1939 and, in an escalating climate of world war, an ocean liner is sunk in the Atlantic by what some of the survivors will believe was a German torpedo attack.

After the sinking and a storm at sea the story focuses on one group: three women, one boy and nine men. Those aboard lifeboat 7.

Though the situation of the varied group is precarious, they are at least lodged in a seaworthy craft, equipped with a goodly amount of rations, and have four ship’s men as part of their number.

But those aboard the ill-fated lifeboat will gradually find that they have more than the elements and the limits of their stores, resilience and adaptability to imperil them.

For there is another, initially unseen, foe close by them which will prove their greatest threat. A sadistic, merciless and disturbingly aware life form that lurks in the pervasive element of the water. A devil in the deep blue sea.

It starts with an uncanny sea mist and a body drifting face down in the water…

Then, two of the boat’s survivors disappear…

Soon the fearsome horror from the sea begins its campaign of terror and brutal butchery in earnest.

In sudden, horrific and bizarre attacks the attrition rate steadily rises as the devil claims its due, one by one, from the terrified, all but defenceless compliment of the boat.

Horror, madness, bloody violence and desperate acts of survival ensue.

The tormented passengers are privy only to the furthest black extremities of that which stalks and reaps them; swift, hideously strong tentacles that soon represent inescapable, inevitable pain and destruction to those on board.

Their unknown enemy is also perverse in the extreme, cruel and cunning. The dwindling group must pit themselves against a monstrous and unearthly torturer, that can even invade the very minds of those it threatens. Its glistening tentacles prove to be the merest tips of an ebon iceberg of terror.

Great first effort!

I'll admit, I bought this book because the cover really hit a nerve and there were no customer reviews at that time to sway me one way or another.

This book avoids a lot of the first time novel issues you see in ebooks. The editing was good, and the pacing was excellent. There was some slight inconsistancy of narrative. At the beginning the language is very much of the pre-WWII era and the third person perspective waxes eloquent, but as the book continues the description and feel of the book becomes more modern.
* updated 5/25/14 After sitting back and giving this book some thought, and this book will certainly stick in your head for a bit, I'll say that this change in narrative language actually works well and has some significance. The language serves as a bit of commentary on the arc of the story. At the end of the book, the language sweeps back toward the more grandiose style as the scene is enlarged beyond the claustrophobic confines of the lifeboat. I really think this works as the language is pared down along with the situation and characters, and is then restored for the climax.

The characters do tend to stay true to their era except for one goof where a character is looking at an empty sky with "not even an aircraft, a far off jet, not even the distant sun glint off the metal of one up there." Besides this minor point, that should have been caught by proof readers, the book really was excellent, especially for a first novel.
* updated 5/25/14 I received a message from the author after posting this original review, in which he stated the aforementioned gaffe was brought to the publisher's attention and would be fixed in subsequent editions. This to me says a lot for the author, and the wonders of e-printing.

I assumed the story would be a high seas Lovecraftian tale of dread, in the vein of Tim Curran's Dead Sea, but, while the book has very horrific content, I was in for a surprise. The author gets right to the action after a brief scene setting, and character introduction. When expecting Lovecraft, I really thought the author's pacing was off as there wasn't a slow creeping build up of dread and unseen terror. Once I got rid of my expectations and caught on to actual storyline, I was hooked. There may not be a build up of dread, but there is certainly a descent into madness and despair.

I was vaguely reminded of Scott Smith's The Ruins in that there was a small group of people being whittled away by an intelligent and unconventional opponent, while also being stranded in a small area that was mistakenly assumed to be safe. The antagonist here though, is far more malevolent. The quarantine here is enforced by both nature and the unnatural. The calculated cruelty and black humor displayed by the tormentor are far greater than anything found in nature and could only be matched by those found in humanity.

Overall I thought this book was great. By the end I was staying up late and reading through my lunch hour as the story raced by. I look forward to more works by this author and I'll definitely recommend him to fellow horror readers.

The story is eerily egaging & at first, One is slowly lured in by an air of mystery and a love for maritime adventure but the author sets no limits on his extreme overuse of words describing each moment and character's actions. Aside from the abuse of the English languag, the story captivates enough to read on.

Placing Zhang in the context of his cultural milieu both in China and in the Chinese immigrant artist community in America, this volume's contributors examine his adaptations of classic art to reflect a contemporary sensibility, his relation to Cubism and Social Realism, his collaboration with the celebrated fashion designer Vivienne Tam, and his visual critique of China's current environmental crisis. Zhang's work will be on display at the Queens Museum in New York City from October 17, 2015 to March 6, 2016.

About the Author
Imani True has been writing all of her life. She wrote her first erotic story in 2007, and was fortunate to team up with Dreama Skye a year later. Strawberries, Stilettos, and Steam is their first collaboration. Even though Imani has lived on the West Coast for over fifteen years, she still considers herself a Native New Yorker at heart. When she's not writing, Imani keeps busy with a traditional 9 to 5, preparing for the day when her writing pays the bills. Her dream is to write on the beaches of Hawaii or in the Caribbean. Ms. True is currently working on several novels and a few screenplays with her son. Her work can also be read in Between the Sheets, published by Delphine Publications. Another collection with Dreama Skye is already in the works.

Dreama Skye knew she was destined to be a writer from the moment she held a pen in her hand. She has been writing erotic poetry since 1998. She has focused her writing into erotic-themed stories in more recent years. Fate and destiny collided when Dreama met Imani True. Dreama was born in the beautiful bluegrass state of Kentucky where she currently resides with her two lovely daughters. Ms. Skye is currently working on a volume of erotic poetry and her first novel, as well as another collection with Imani True. More Soft Core, Less Story

Strawberries, Stilettos and Steam by Imani True and Dreama Skye is a collection of erotic shorts. The book starts off with a woman about to slip into a hot bubble bath with a glass of champagne and a bowl of strawberries beside the tub....all in front of a webcam. She opens a package that she received earlier in the day that included a book that just so happens to be Strawberries, Stilettos and Steam, and she proceeds to read. There's a story about a student that attends classes online and just so happens to to get it on while class is in session; A woman who is bi-curious and meets someone online to quench her fantasy; A young man in college notices his best-friend's mother who is bound and determined to show him he's not a little boy anymore; A masked man that is going around climbing in the window of the women in the courthouse and sexing them; a cop that fantasizes about her partner and many more.

Strawberries, Stilettos and Steam by Imani True and Dreama Skye was just okay...nothing more, nothing less. The first story in the book called "Detour" had a lot of conflicting scenes, not to mention the story with the courthouse. If a good developmental editor would have read these stories, they would have surely caught what I am referring to. There are also some editing issues, and the sex scenes were not as descriptive as they could have been. Saying they had sex for hours is not telling me exactly what they did in that time frame. There also seemed to be more girl on girl sex than any other stories. I understand that erotic is supposed to be heavily laced with sex but with a story. Unfortunately, Strawberries, Stilettos and Steam lacked the story and went straight to soft core porn.

I went through a gamut of feelings: from shy (making that phone call in 'Turned On, Turned Out'), to aroused (and wet) wanting Shade to call me in 'Pussy Dreams'! The prologue had me hooked from "web cam on"! The book is hot, spicy, and left me creaming-and wanting more!

Imani True and Dreama Skye pair nicely together in this collection of erotic stories. Their blending of lascivious tales mold and flow with artistic precision. The heat is more than enough for the average gal. In fact, the women are above average in every way. Brains and beauty combine in more ways than one. If you are squeamish about lesbian adventures, this is not the book for you. If you are curious and want to know more, I highly recommend picking yourself up a copy. Your thirst for knowledge will be aptly quenched.

About the Author
Nancy Hooyman holds the Hooyman Professorship of Gerontology and dean emeritus at the University of Washington School of Social Work. She is author of 12 books and over 130 articles and chapters. Her books include a widely used text, Social Gerontology: A Multidisciplinary Perspective (9th Edition); Aging Matters: An Introduction to Social Gerontology; Feminist Perspectives on Family Care: Policies toward Gender Justice; Taking Care of Older Relatives, one of the first widely used books on family caregiving, and Grief and Loss: Interventions across the Lifespan. She is Principal Investigator of the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) National Center for Gerontological Social Work Education. She is the recipient of the 2009 CSWE Significant Lifetime Achievement Award in Social Work Education and the 1998 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work Education, and was inducted into the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare in 2011.

Dr. Kevin Y. Kawamoto, a faculty member at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and previously at the University of Washington in Seattle, received his Ph.D. in Communications and M.S.W. (with a specialization in multigenerational social work) from the University of Washington. A former student of Professor Nancy R. Hooyman, he has helped to update her co-authored text Social Gerontology: A Multidisciplinary Perspective and worked on other projects with her over the years. His research interests include issues related to aging and technology; aging and mental health; and active aging.

This Handbook of Anti-Money Laundering(AML) is the most comprehensive, educational and practical reference manual that I have ever read after being in the risk management, internal audit and training profession for nearly 3 decades.
It has concise and up-to-date global AML best practices, regulatory rules, as well as 27 country profile overviews and relevant case studies.

Amazing book on small business marketing!

What an incredibly refreshing book on marketing! I love how it breaks down exactly how the three key numbers to grow should look. And then each step tells you how to increase them. I've taken the advice to work out my conversion %, and my prospects number (had to be average guess here) and my value per customer, including lifetime value. And already the tips I'm putting into action are making a difference. The logical steps to discovering my USP and articulating it were powerful too. It's a terrific book, I'm going to send a copy to all my business owner friends.
