Fair product but not worth the price.

Disappointed. But did learn a few things. Do not feel I got equitable value from this purchase. I practice / play regularly as a beginner and struggle with making progress. Scott's approach is good, the use of Lead Sheets (versus formal musical notion) is probably the most key learning point. His video is presented as a lecture to a small classroom of students. His key point is that you don't need to spend years studying formal musical notion on the Grand Staff when using chords with your left hand and melody with your right hand will move your piano playing ability forward quickly. This is true and I got it the first time he said it but it was repeated so many times that I nearly shut it off. Two music CD's are included so you can listen and try to imitate skilled players (I get that on Pandora for free) except I cannot pause it. In all not worth the investment but in defense of this package, it is better than no source of reference and does provide basic information.

About the Author
Sabine Wilhelm, PhD, is Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Chief of Psychology and Director of the Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Related Disorders Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is Vice Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation, serves on the Scientific Council of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and is on the editorial boards of eight journals. Dr. Wilhelm's clinical work and research focus on body dysmorphic disorder, OCD, and tic disorders. She is the author of more than 200 articles and book chapters and several books, including the self-help guide Feeling Good about the Way You Look: A Program for Overcoming Body Image Problems, which was cited as a Self-Help Book of Merit by the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). She is a Fellow of ABCT and the Association for Psychological Science.

Katharine A. Phillips, MD, is Director of the Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) Program, Director of Research for Adult Psychiatry, and Senior Research Scientist at Rhode Island Hospital, and Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. A Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, she is the recipient of a Special Presidential Commendation from the American Psychiatric Association for her research on BDD. Dr. Phillips has repeatedly been included in Best Doctors in America and Castle Connolly's America's Top Doctors. She has more than 290 scientific publications and has written a number of books on BDD for professionals and the public, including Understanding Body Dysmorphic Disorder: An Essential Guide.
 
Gail Steketee, PhD, is Dean and Professor at the Boston University School of Social Work. Her scholarly work has focused on developing and testing treatments for obsessive–compulsive spectrum disorders, including obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), body dysmorphic disorder, and hoarding disorder. She has published over 200 articles and chapters and more than a dozen books on these topics. Dr. Steketee is a recipient of the Outstanding Career Achievement Award from the International OCD Foundation and is 2016–2017 President Elect of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. She gives frequent lectures and workshops on hoarding and related conditions  to professional and public audiences in the United States and internationally.

A comprehensive resource

This is a comprehensive, user friendly step-by-step resource that includes lots forms for clinician and client use. Very useful for new clinicians and seasoned clinicians who are not familiar with BDD. I was able to use this book immediately to help a client.

Helped me pass my social work licensure exam.

When I first became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) it was in the State of Louisiana. I remember secluding myself in this room all day and pouring over the wealth of information in this book. It was 1987. The book had just been published the year before. I was amazed at the wealth of knowledge that could be contained in a single volume of significant wisdom. It was to make the difference in my being only one of the 49 % of individuals that passed the licensure exam that year.

As a 1979 graduate of the University of Michigan Graduate School of Social Work, I remember having to study object relations theory and behavioral psychology. This was reviewed in Chapter 2 Psychoanalytic Theory by Herbert S. Stream, Chapter 6 Behavior Therapy in Social Work Practice by Ray J. Thomlinson , and Chapter 14 Ego Psychology by Eda Goldstein. Of course a number of my fellow students and I had, either at that time or while we were still in undergraduate school, volunteered to work in crisis centers which were very popular at that time. This is aptly covered in Chapter 12 Crisis Theory by Naomi Golan. Additionally I remember doing a group presentation in one of my classes on gestalt therapy. This is gone into in greater detail in Chapter 4 Contributions of Gestalt Theory to Social Work Practice by Michael Blugerman. Years later after passing my licensure exam and becoming further licensed in two other states (Florida and Georgia) I would refer back to the book for information such as is contained in Chapter 5 Cognitive Theory by Harold D. Werner, Chapter 7 Meditation in Social Work Treatment by Thomas Keefe, Chapter 16 Family Treatment by Sonya L. Rhodes, Chapter 18 Psychosocial Theory by Francis J. Turner, Chapter 19 Systems Theory by Margaret R. Rodway and Chapter 24 A Multitheory Perspective for Practice by Francis J. Turner.

As you can see, this book is rather comprehensive. It is an earlier edition of what is now in its fourth edition but it is still remarkably valuable, useful information not only for the social work student for those veteran social workers who have long been licensed but may occasionally need additional review.

I like the heroine's chutzpah in this story.... She's well-matched against her hero. It's fun to see him narrowing his focus on her while she boldly pushes him away.
The aunt's romantic subplot seemed rather quick; it would have been nice if it had been developed more. And the brother's was thrown on, clashing uncomfortably with the rest of the book and involving some improbable events. Poor brother! His sister makes all kinds of decisions that should have been his. No, I think the brother needed a little more work in this. He needed to be more than just a Gimmick.
But the clash between hero and heroine are what make this book quite enjoyable. Two great egos flail at each other and stir up a whole bunch of sparks, both of anger and of romance. I look forward to reading more by the author.

A funny, delicious book!

Well, I must say that I have enjoyed reading this book! This book has it all! Laughter, adventure, treasures, a villain, great secondary characters and most of all romance!
Lucien Deveraux, The Duke of Wexford, is accidentally ran over by the carriage of Arabella Hadley a woman he has loved and lost ten years ago. Because of his wounds he was forced to stay and recover in the house of Arabella where she lives with her two aunts and brother. Arabella and Lucien fell in love with each other years ago but circumstances has taken Lucien away from Arabella and broke her innocent heart. Now ten years later they face each other again and Lucien must prove to this independent, stubborn, strong, beautiful woman that he has changed and and is there to stay with her forever. Even if this means to trick her into marriage.
I enjoyed reading this book a lot! After reading so many "serious" books lately, I found this refreshing, funny and well written. There were moments in this book that made me laugh out loud, sigh from exasperation, tense from what's to come next and curl my toes with pleasure because Lucien is such a wonderful hero. I could really empathize with Arabella's feelings and independence because of what she has had to endure. If a book can make me feel all these things then I know I've got myself another keeper. This book has everything and has the right dosage of humor, misunderstanding, love scenes, meddling of Arabella's delightful aunts and adventure. Karen Hawkins even threw in two extra romances. The secondary characters are well written and gave the book more depth and you will wish to see them return in Karen's future books.
Karen Hawkins is a writer that can certainly be compared to writers like Amanda Quick, Julia Quinn and Jacquie D'Alessandro. If you love their books you will certainly love A Belated Bride. Buy this book now for I assure you, you will not be disappointed, you will only clamor for more!! I, for one, certainly cannot wait for her next book, The Abduction of Sara, to be released in November 2001!

About the Author

Nigel Biggar is Regius Professor of Moral and Pastoral Theology, and Director of the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life, at the University of Oxford, where he is also a Canon of Christ Church Cathedral. Before taking up his current post in 2007, he held chairs in Theology at the University of Leeds and at Trinity College Dublin. Among his published works are: Behaving in Public: How to Do Christian Ethics (2011), (co-ed.) Religious Voices in Public Places (2009), Aiming to Kill: The Ethics of Suicide and Euthanasia (2004); and (ed.) Burying the Past: Making Peace and Doing Justice after Civil Conflict (2001, 2003). He sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Military Ethics and has lectured at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.

In Defence of War

Having read about and thought about war and wars for essentially all my life, I must say that I have never encountered an author so determined to assay so many of others' opinions. Biggar, in order to test his ideas, goes after the toughest cases. In addition to all this, he is a delightful writer. You may disagree, but you will enjoy the ride.
